About Coach Mac:
Born and raised in Kensington, Maryland, Mac has been involved in sports his entire life, including swimming, football, and baseball. Growing up he played on multiple travel leagues around the DMV and was the captain of the Walter Johnson High School baseball team in 2010 when he was named All-Met honorable mention in the Washington Post.
Mac continued his baseball career as a starting pitcher and outfielder at Montgomery College for 1 year before accepting a scholarship to pitch on UMBC’s baseball team, where he spent 3 years as the ace of the starting rotation. While at UMBC, Mac was an all-academic player, earned America East Conference Pitcher of the Week during his senior year, and ranked in the NCAA Top 10 for walks per 9 innings. Mac graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics.
After graduation, Mac took his talents overseas and played semi-pro baseball in France, Australia, and Canada for a combined 2 years. While abroad, Mac’s passion for the game grew exponentially and he decided to forge a career centered on baseball.
Since 2018, Mac has coached multiple travel baseball teams in the DMV across various age groups, returned to his alma mater, Walter Johnson High School, as the pitching coach, and has instructed hundreds of one-on-one private lessons. Mac takes great pride in his ability to help players develop their talents, expand skill sets, and nurture their love of the sport. He maintains a player’s mentality and stays close to the game as an active player in the DC Wood baseball league (go Mallards!).
